Our Beliefs
Keeping the Sabbath is a Commandment. As Apostolics, we believe in obeying Acts 2:38 and worshipping God in Spirit and in Truth.
Dates for God's Biblical Festivals: Passover, Feast of Unleavened Bread, Pentecost, Feast of Trumpets, Atonement, Feast of Tabernacles and the Eighth Day.
In biblical reckoning, days begin in the evening (Genesis 1:5), when the sun goes down (Joshua 8:29; 2 Chronicles 18:34; Mark 1:32), and are counted “from evening to evening” (Leviticus 23:32). Thus, all God’s festivals begin the sunset just before the dates listed in this table. For example, in 2026 Passover is observed on the evening of March 31, after sundown, and the Feast of Unleavened Bread begins the following evening, April 1. The festivals end at sunset on the dates given.

Statement of Beliefs
Acts 2:38 is a Good Start – But it’s Just a Start
In the Apostolic church, we are taught that if you obey Acts 2:38, then you are “saved,” it’s your golden ticket to heaven. Of course, regular repentance is still necessary, but baptism in the name and the infilling of the Holy Ghost are all you need to spend eternity with Jesus.
Or so we are taught.
There’s a little more to the story, though.
Barriers to Biblical Truth and the Sabbath aren’t taught the truth of “Truth.”
The Apostolic church teaches a version of biblical truth that is better than most, but still doesn’t go deep enough. There’s more to the story that you need to know.
The church has a cherry-picking culture
It is common practice to isolate a single verse and build a doctrine around it, but scripture says to study to show yourself approved. Look at the scripture in context to truly understand it.
The church teaches that “the Law” is bad
Church tradition has been to reject the “Old Testament,” thus rejecting “the Law,” and that has done a serious disservice to believers. Jesus taught Torah – it’s ONE BOOK.
The church doesn’t teach true obedience
Obedience is God’s love language, and that is how He calls for us to display our love for Him. He said that if we LOVE Him, then we will OBEY His Commandments, His Law, His Torah.
OBEDIENCE IS HOLINESS
1 Peter 1:13-16 tells us that being obedient to God is holiness. When we obey Him, we come out of the world, turning away from the things of the world, and become like Him.
Obedience is holiness, which means remembering the Sabbath Day and keeping it holy is obedience.
Apostolic Sabbath keepers walk in true obedience to God.
The key to understanding the biblical Sabbath is to stop trying to disprove it and find reasons to reject it and instead search the scriptures for yourself to find out what God really says about it.
You just might be surprised at what you find.
Walking Through Exodus 20:8-11
This is the only commandment that begins with “remember.” In Hebrew, that word is “zakar” which means to keep in mind, to commemorate, and to mark. We are called to mark the Sabbath day, to commemorate it, and keep it in our minds TO keep it holy. Remembering the Sabbath, keeping the Sabbath, is holiness.
You have six days out of the week to do your work. On that seventh day, the Sabbath, you are to rest. And the correct day is important! If you are not keeping the correct Sabbath day, you will miss certain feast days like Shavuot (Day of Pentecost). God commands us to keep His Sabbath day HIS way, not ours.
The Sabbath day is not just a day to worship God. You can do that any day. The Sabbath is set apart, special, and different from the rest because we are instructed to do no work. Further, we are not to cause anyone else to work. That means no shopping, going out to eat, or doing anything that would cause anyone to work and break the Sabbath.
The Sabbath day was established at creation by God Himself. On the seventh day, He rested and sanctified that day to be our Sabbath forever. He blessed it, He hallowed it. The Hebrew word there is “qadash,” which means to consecrate, set apart, sanctify, to make holy. The Sabbath day is a holy day, and rejecting it is a sin.
The Disciples Kept the Sabbath
In the book of Acts alone, we see where the disciples kept the Sabbath more than 80 times. Throughout the gospel,s we see the disciples and Jesus faithfully keeping the Sabbath.
What you don’t see are the disciples claiming that they don’t have to keep the Sabbath because “Jesus is their Sabbath” or the “Holy Ghost is their Sabbath.” They were keeping the Sabbath before and after the crucifixion and before and after the Holy Ghost was poured out at Pentecost.
Luke 4:16, 31 – Jesus taught in the synagogue on the Sabbath as was his custom.
Acts 13:42-44 – When the Jews left the synagogue on the Sabbath, the Gentiles begged that they too could be taught about Jesus on the next Sabbath. Paul did not direct them to the Sunday church. Instead, on the next Sabbath day, he taught them.
Matthew 12:12 – Jesus said it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.
Mark 2:23-27 – Jesus taught that the Sabbath was made for man, not man made for the Sabbath. This means that the Sabbath is a gift from God, not a burden.
Jesus gave us a perfect and holy example of how to keep the Sabbath.
We are to emulate Him, walking as He walked (1 John 2:6).
Constantine’s Sunday Law of 321 A.D.
“On the venerable day of the Sun, let the magistrates and people residing in cities rest, and let all workshops be closed. In the country, however, persons engaged in agriculture may freely and lawfully continue their pursuits because it often happens that another day is not suitable for gain-sowing or vine planting; lest by neglecting the proper moment for such operations the bounty of heaven should be lost.”
